Bianca and Heath cover for them and Charlie's friendship with Bianca breaks down. Charlie decides to quit her job and she asks Brax to leave the River Boys, which he does. Ruby feels guilty for what she has done and decides to hand herself into the police. Jai's spirits are lifted when Romeo Smith , an old friend from foster care arrives to stay at Summer Bay House. He asks Romeo for his help to win Annie back but the plan backfires when Romeo allows Annie to believe he is responsible for the love poems Jai has been sending her and Jai realises Romeo wants Annie for himself.
Character History:
After this event Geoff blames Ruby and leaves her and Summer Bay. She briefly reunites with Xavier but Mink Carpenter ruins it. They form a strong friendship but Ruby starts to have feeling for him. Nicole Franklin tells Liam, he agrees to keep tutoring her and tells her where they stand. Although Liam tells her they will not be together, she lets her feelings develop into love for Liam and tries to kiss him.
Charlie is partnered with Jack Holden when she starts her job as a Senior Constable at the Yabbie Creek Police Station and her sister, Ruby, arrives in the Bay. Ruby begins entering surf competitions with Romeo and when his marriage breaks down, he tells her that he has feelings for her. Ruby suspects Romeo is going to break up with her and she tells him she is pregnant. Leah Patterson-Baker learns Ruby is lying and urges her to tell Romeo the truth. Ruby later notices Romeo trying to get back with Indi and she decides to tamper with the brakes on Indi's car in order to get rid of her. However, Indi's brother, Dexter , drives the car and crashes, leaving him with serious injuries.

Charlie is suspected for a long while, until her father Ross Buckton comes forward and says that he had arranged to meet him and told him to stay away from his family, then stabbed him in anger when he refused. When Geoff Campbell finds out what happened, he threatens Axel, who is later beaten up and found on the beach by Belle. When Axel wakes up in hospital, he is reluctant to tell the police anything and suspicion falls on Geoff and Aden.
Charlie begins a relationship with Roman Harris and she eventually accepts Ross and Morag being together. Ross and Morag marry, but after they come back from their honeymoon, Charlie realises something is wrong with her father. Ruby's mother, Charlie got raped by Ruby's father, Grant Beldcoe when she was 14 and when he was 15.
During The Great Storm, Tegan is in a car accident and Charlie attends to her, they talk about loving Brax. Tegan dies and Charlie learns Jake's brother, Hammer, has threatened her life. Brax pushes her out of the way, but she sustains an injury to her arm. One night, Charlie gets drunk and sleeps with Hugo Austin. Charlie admits to Angelo that she has feelings for him and they begin dating.
